| Just to update this thread for others in the future with the issue, I think
I have discovered the cause of this issue. I am understandably reluctant to
do a complete reinstall as everything else works well, and I have so many
customised programs installed.
I think the issue is that IE7 Beta 2 never uninstalled fully, and still is
apparently installed (according to the system). This post explains this
known issue:
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/03/27/562265.aspx
As IE7 RC1 has been released, I uninstalled beta 3 and while I was back at
IE6 tried the tests you had me do previously. Everything worked perfectly,
plus I was able to access Online Spotlight from the Extenders. This is
definitely an IE7 issue.
The MSblog post explains that if you get the msfeeds.dll error when
uninstalling Beta 2, and the uninstall hangs at the 'Updating Registry'
stage, then you should check c:\windows\updspapi.log for the registry
entry/ies that is/are denied, and change the permissions on them.
Let me know if this helps you.
