Mapping a drive in XBox 360 extender MCE profile
|
|
|
| When you setup the XB0x 360 to talk to an MCE box the install process sets
up a profile for "MCX1" on the MCE box. It also sets up a user called
"MCX1." It configures its own password. In that profile, I need to setup a
mapped network drive for an MCE 3rd party program I have to use. Since I
can't log on to the MCE box as MCX1 (since I don't know the password), and
if I reset the password I assume the XBox360 will no longer be able to talk
to it because I don't think there's a place to change the password the
XBox360 sends, does anyone know how I might go about this? I'm hoping
there's just a way I don't know to either:
1) Reset the password that the XBox360 uses to communicate with the MCE box
(then I'll just reset the password on the MCE box and log into it as that
user, and map the drive)
2) From a command line "inject" a drive mapping into the MCX1 profile
without being logged on as that user.
Let me know,
Thanks

| Jim, the easiest way to map a drive is described here
http://blog.vanosdale.com/ in Andy Vanosdale's (he's a Media Center Edition
MVP) blog. Just scroll down to the section titled "How to Setup a Mapped
Drive on your MCX with a Domain-based Computer" It is a little more than
half-way down the page.
