According to the latest figures, i'm sure there's 5m xbox 360 owners
and 60% of those have logged on with their consoles... So the 3m
quoted here sounds right.

I think the original xbox had 10% of users connected to live, so its
quite a jump. I Doubt the gold (premium) subscribers has jumped by
any significant amount though as MS would be hyping about this if it
was the case.

These figures include the users who have only connected once though,
so i dont know how far you can read into these figures.

Interesting too is that MS claim over 900,000 voice/text messages per
day are being sent via xbox live... Thats alot!

I was trying to figure out how much money Microsoft is making on XBOX Live
subscriptions.

I think I a pretty good estimate unless something has an actual figure. I
have been playing on XBOX Live and I am very impressed with it.

Thanks for the responses!

I can't beleive it's a great deal as the infrastructure probably costs
alot to maintain.. If you ever listen to majornelson.com 's podcast
you soon realise that theres shitloads of people working on xbox live
which must cost a fair few quid.

It's also hard to work out as people buy their subs in a variety of
ways, myself, i wait for cheap kits to come up.. Just like recently
whereby you could pick up pro evolution soccer and 12 months live sub
for £17.99.

Then you get those that pay £4 a month etc.

What figure have you come up with by the way? If i had to take a guess
i would say they have taken £20 million in from subs, but how much of
that is profit i wouldnt have a clue in working out.

I think the marketplace points system is earning them plenty of money
though.

You can't estimate these figures. You have revenue in the form of
recievables, then you have fixed costs. Costs of servers, power, employee
salaries, telecommunication costs, marketing costs and so forth.

It takes a team of CPA's to figure this out. To count the number of subs, is
not enough to say microsoft is making x amount of dolars.

Remember, you have fixed costs, recievables and other figures to look into.
