I have 2 PC's both with XP pro sp2, connected through a router the laptop
"sees" my other computer when i click on view workgroup computers, but says
\\pcname is not accesible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions
The network path was not found. i have simple shares disabled have tried
this with windows firewall, zonealarm and no firewall, the ip's are assigned
by DHCP and both computers can ping each other. the Desktop cannot even see
the workgroup. with the same error message. I have semantic antivirus, have
tried restarting the winsock, uninstalling and the reinstalling the NIC's,
disabling the shares, and redoing the home network setup wizard. I am at a
loss about what to do PLEASE help having 2 comptuers that i want to share
files between networked but not working is ver fustrating

Thanks

Set the same user accounts as each computer and with the same password. This
might help you as you are running in a workgroup enviroment and not a
domain. Also check that your DNS is pointing to your router, Which in this
case will probably be your DNS server.
