picked up my 360 about a week ago. quick question about signing in...under
the gamer profile page, you click on 'edit gamer profile' and then 'privacy
settings', you can then choose how much of your gamer profile, including
specific content like 'achievments' can be seen by the xbox live community,
along with being able to fully 'block' anyone from seeing you on live. this
is where it gets confusing to me, if you set that on block, then back out
and do whatever else you want to do on the 360, i have to assume that you're
signed in but your signed in invisibly....now, when you press the xbox guide
button in the middle of the controller, your status screen comes up and you
can go down to 'personal settings'...after pressing this, then clicking
'online status'...it tells you that you're online..... not any on the other
four...be right back, busy or offline (which is the one it should indicate
seeing how you already chose 'block' on your gamer profile page.

just a little confused about how exactly i'm seen online...this isn't what
i would call user friendly, if everytime you want to jump on to simply check
downloads, you have to quickly press the guide button to show that you're
offline, or you can get around that entirely buy choosing the 'block' option
on the gamer profile page, in which case when you want invites or want your
friends to know you're on, you have to completely back out of whatever
screen your in, ending the progress you've made if playing a game, go to the
profile page and take off the 'block' option, having everything start all
over again.

definite pain.

isn't there a simple way to sign on without being seen and not have to go
through the trouble of navigating through a bunch of screens, resetting
options in the process, to show you're signed in and want to play....

If youve blocked visibility then the options for away etc cannot be
displayed, since noone will be able to see that your on...

I think what your asking for is a contradiction... either dont sign on ,, or
set your status to busy....
