Media Center question....

| i dont' have wireless and i'm curious about the connections between my media
pc, 360 and xbox live. i caught the video on the 360 about the media center
extender and it said to have my connection going directly from the modem
into the back of my pc, then if i have my 360 connected to this from a
second ethernet port (would i need a crossover cable) .....can i play on
live without having to rearrange any of the connections and also stream all
that good stuff microsoft told me i can...
it my sound like i have a media center pc....but i don't, this is one of the
reasons. little confused about the connections and i'd rather not go
completely wireless.

| I think that video is aimed towards people that have/want wireless.
The important part is if you have wireless you don't want both the PC and
the XBOX 360 to be on the same wifi band.
Put the XBOX360 on 802.11a and the PC on 802.11g for example. Or if only 1
of them is wireless no problem.
Remember Wifi speed can vary so it's probably never going to be as fast as
Ethernet would be.
If you want to use your PC as a Bastion host.. (2 Nics) you could.

It's cheap, but can be a pain sometimes to setup...You'd still be vulnerable
to viruses and Windows hacks.
I'd just buy a hardware firewall/router... Well worth it.
