Author question about downloads on Live

Can I get a demo download going and then pop in a game and play with the
download running in the background? Seems like anytime I move away from the
download page with the progression bar, the download stops and I have to
restart it again. It picks up where it left off, but it seems like I should
be able to do some other things with the system while it's downloading.

Thanks,

Phil

You can't download in the background as you've already discovered. Word has
it that MS will add that capability in a future update

I agree with TT

It would be nice to schedule downloads so you could queue up a few.
Also you should be able to browse for more downloads while downloading.

I doubt that you would be able to download during gameplay. That would
likely cause performance issues.

But at least downloading while browsing for more or queuing up more
downloads isn't asking too much...

IE.. You go to shut off your XBOX 360 at night.. It says.. "You have 3
scheduled demo downloads.. would you like to begin download now?"
"Would you like to automatically power off the XBOX 360 when completed?

I agree that would be great, and I still don't see why you wouldn't be able
to download while playing. If you were playing ONLINE, maybe not, but to
play a single player game it shouldn't be an issue. The NIC and hard drive
are doing all the work. No reason why the rest of the box can't be running
a game for you. I do it all the time with a PC less powerful that this box
is.

Hopefully they will update this, as having to simply walk away from the box
for an hour or more while downloading a 1GB demo sucks.

Thanks for the replies!
