I am appalled at 2D scrolling in xbox games, and am led to believe it doesnt
have any. e.g. the sonic collection all the games are not smooth screen is
jerky reminisent of an atari st. I mean sega know what hardware smooth
scrolling is so they would have programmed it like that, must be that the
xbox doesnt have hardware scrolling. appaling!.

I can't figure out why you'd want "hardware scrolling" in the first place.
DirectX lets you place 2D images anywhere on the screen. Maybe Sega
developed those games in the manner you describe on purpose. I just can't
imagine that anyone could screw up something so basic or need hardware to do
it for them.

Hmm..

Are you referring to XBOX or XBOX 360?
Which game in the pack? Or all of them?
What kind of TV do you have?
Which type of connection are you using from your XBOX/360 to TV?

I'll bet that collection your talking about is only emulating the older
arcade classics. Even the quality of screens used back in the Atari era were
often RF or composite video signals.

Wonder if a 480i game might appear to have v-sync issues and any HD title
might appear smoother.

I'll have to check out that collection and see if it's bad for me too.. Stay
tuned.

Sorry I thought you meant Atari collection pack.

Guess you meant the Sonic Mega Collection Plus AKA Sonic the Hedgehog from
Sega.

Probably the same questions apply though.

Nostalgia is a cruel mistress. Have you played those same games on your
Megadrive/Genesis recently?
