Deleting a Passport that is assocated with a gamertag

| Hi everyone.
The passport that is associated with my gamertag is an e-mail address
which is now no longer working, and won't be coming back. I know the
stupid system which is used on xbox live now does not allow me to
change my passport for my gamertag, so I am stuck!
However I would like to know if anyone has any ideas, or tried, to
cancel the passport which is associated with an xbox live gamertag, and
what effects this has on my gamertag? Would it mess it up, or could I
register a new passport as it won't find the old account, or would it
kill off the xbox live account as well? (Can't see why it should I've
paid for it afterall)
Any help is greatly appreciated.

| If you visit the .net passport control panel at passport.net you can
actually change the address associated with a passport, as long as it is an
external address (not an MS supplied one) which I assume is it if it is "now
no longer working". You have to actually click the "Close account" link in
the Customer Service section once you're logged in, and on the warning page
stating "You are about to close the following MSN account:" there is a link
to a page allowing you to change the email address. The new address will
need confirming in the same way as when you originally created the account,
but all the account settings will remain the same (MSN messenger friends
lists for example).
I have personally done this with the address already associated with my Xbox
Live account and can confirm it works perfectly.
Hope this helps

Simon
