I guess Microsoft figures that's one way to get people to buy Vista.

But I doubt that most PC gamers are going to care enough about the port of
a 2 year old sequel of a mediocre FPS to go buy a new version of
Windows... Heck, I'm still running Win2k on my main desktop at home.
When I build a new machine, it'll run XP. I might upgrade to Vista once
it's been out in the field for awhile.

I know what you mean. At the end of the day though, if it was released for
all versions. I think it would sell better.

I really cannot understand the logic of it. Most gamers will be thinkin the
same as you. Also if the new version of windows requires a serious system to
run are they going to be any system resource free to run such games?!?

Strangely reminiscent of NT 4.0 and USB support... or the lack thereof,
despite 3rd party solutions..

Microsoft is probably thinking this is a good way to get folks to buy
their new OS. After all, what's Vista going to offer most customers who
are already running Win2k or XP? Seriously now, who's going to want to
pay $100-200 for yet another version of Windows with yet another bunch of
slight tweaks to its GUI?

Anyways, does anyone know what the system requirements are going to be? I
seriously can't see them requiring anything greater than 2Ghz CPU with 1GB
of RAM, 2GB of disk space, and a fairly recent video card.

Anything more than that, and making people buy a new OS is going to be the
least of their customers' problems...

Again, I really don't see that many PC gamers getting that excited about
this release. The first Halo didn't do very well on the PC mainly because
it was so dated by the time it came out, and most of the folks who were
interested in the game, already played it on the XBox when it was new. I
suspect the same will hold true for Halo2.

-New graphics engine, totally new sound engine, totally new printing engine
etc etc etc. XP -> Vista is a about as huge leap as Win3.1 -> 95 was years
ago.

Get your facts right.

I'd disagree with that. I've played with several builds of the beta and
there is nothing that excites me. It looks a bit prettier but it's nothing
special.

-Yeah, I also drove a Bugatti Veyron...still 4 tires, and a steering wheel.
It looks a bit prettier than a T-Ford, but nothing special.

Who are they kidding???? I visit so many sites a day and everyone has
either upgraded all their systems to XP or is in the process of upgrading to
XP. Its going to be another 2 maybe 3 windows releases before these
companies even begin to think about upgrading again. Especially if its
really only a cosmetic change and nothing super special. The same goes for
home users.... Sure you will get the geeks who want the latest, boy oh boy,
thats a huge market. Halo2 isn't going to change peoples mind..... it sounds
like its going to suffer sales if anything......
