I just received a replacement (refurbished) Xbox 360 from Microsoft today
after sending my original console in for repair last week and it works, but
will not connect to Xbox Live. After speaking to the wonderfully helpful
tech support people at 1-800-4MYXBOX, I checked out the forums at Xbox.com
and found that this has been plaguing people for over a week with 100 or
more people posting in the above thread with the same issue. Microsoft is
sending out replacement Xbox 360 consoles that will not connect to Xbox
Live!

| That is absolutely rediculous. And I am not talking about LIVE not working.
I am talking about them sending out refurbished systems. I know in my
country that if it fails within the warranty period and they cannot fix it,
you get a NEW replacement.... Even if it fails within 1 month of purchase,
they should be replacing it with a new one anyway!!!

In the US, if you return the product to the manufacturer for warranty
reasons, they can replace your unit with a refurbished one.
That's one of the reasons Microsoft wants people to send their broken 360s
to THEM, and not to the store that they bought the 360 from. If you
return a product to the store, they will replace it with a new one,
whereas the manufacturer has the option of sending you a refurbished unit.
