I've a 360 since Dec but dont play it ofter cos the games I have aint great
and there's been little or no new releases since its release. Anyone have a
timeline for upcoming games? Halo3, WorldAirforce, Gears of War are three
games "I want now"

cheers

I know I'm highly dissapointed by the games at the moment. Ok Project Gotham
3 is mint but everything else is quite lacking. Call Off Duty is good,
though it is slightly short. I think Ghost Recon 3 Is out this month, or
very soon at least. Gears of War should be hitting us summer time. Other
than that your stuck with an expensive dvd player.

Perhaps it is a conspiracy. Perhaps the schools are behind it. Perhaps it is
to allow people more time to improve their grammar and spelling.

Gears of War isn't due out until the fall now (unless it gets delayed
again.) and Ghost Recon is due out on March 9th. There are supposed to be
some good titles released this month but I can't remember the names, I think
they might be 'Burning Angels' and 'The Outfit'.

Perhaps they are keeping things low key until the launch of the ps3. Really
they have no competition at this point, so why rush launches when they can
sit back and let the console continue to sell without the expense of
software releases.

However people won't buy the console unless there are good games. Give some
of the XBox Live Arcade titles a try too. I bought PDZ, Call of Duty and
Kameo - great games in my opinion. However since the saved games can't be
migrated -- I've been "forced" to replay San Andreas

Ghost recon may be worth a go all right although I'm begining to think Halo
will be the only fps to really work on console, I cant really get into PDZ
not sure if its cos of the controls etc.

It hasn't been delayed at all. "2006" was the date Epic/Microsoft gave.

It was due out first quarter 2006, now it's due fall 2006, I'd call that a
delay.

The lack of games is a slight beatch to handle, but I think there may be
marketing forces behind that, but I am purely speculating. Anyway, I think
PD0 is one of the best games out there, and the online play is awesome, I'd
even compare it to Halo2, so give it more of a try dude.. Co-op mode is
incredible!

COD2 is great, except the online play is laggy and disconnects a great deal,
but when it runs it is awesome. If you like creepy stuff, Condemned is worth
a shot, and PGR3 is great. I am getting Elder Scrolls:Oblivion when that is
released next month, and GR3 in March. Meantime, the games you want I want
too, but I am still having a blast with PD0 (almost finished with Perfect
Agent mode) and (somewhat with )COD2 online.

I remember when the first Xbox came out, and the games (IMHO) left less to
be desired in not only quality, but quanity when it came out.

People making dates up for something doesn't make it a release date.

Marketing forces?

It's not unusual for a console to launch with a small number of games, and
then have next to nothing released for the next 4-6 months. It's a new
console, and developers are still learning to code for it. It's going to
take a little time before they get up to speed.

They should be pushing their advantage. Not waiting for the competition
(PS3) to catch up.

Microsoft screwed up the launch by not having enough systems to meet even
half of the pre-orders out there, and it doesn't seem they've managed to
ship many additional units since then...

This will be the only time that the 360 has the entire next-gen market to
themselves. The more people they get to buy a 360 NOW will make it harder
for the PS3 to come up to speed in terms of sales. This is because most
people tend to only buy 1 console. If such a person were to buy a 360 now,
there's a good chance he wouldn't buy a PS3 when it was released (at least,
not for a while...) More importantly, this person would continue buying 360
games - which is where Microsoft makes their money.

But new consoles always suffer from a lack of games just after being
released. Usually takes 4-6 months at least, before the next wave of good
games starts appearing. That's just the way it is. But Microsoft should
still be trying to get as many consoles onto the shelves as fast as
possible.

Well, you have a good point, but what I mean by 'marketing forces', is that
MS 'may be' holding back until the release of the PS3 somewhat. I know game
writers are trying to get these games out, but the console is still almost
impossible to get, and considering that, if quality games become available
en mass soon, then the intention to take hold of the market could pay off
for MS.

I really don't see any advantage to delaying a game release - especially
at this point in the console's lifecycle. Microsoft is still losing money
on every console sale and needs software sales. Even if the console is
still scarce, improving the 360's library will mean that those customers
who already have a 360 might continue buying games. It would really be
silly if no more games were released for a few months, or until the PS3 is
released. Bill Gates has even admitted that even if they released Halo3
on the same day that the PS3 was released, it wouldn't effect the PS3
launch at all. Nor would it decrease the coverage on the PS3.

I also think it really is to Microsoft's advantage to get as many consoles
and gae titles into consumers' hands before the PS3 hits. After that,
Microsoft will have to share the market.

In an interview with Gamespot MS says 50 games by the end of June (quote is
end of fiscal year, which elsewhere in the article is equated to end of
June).
