| The xbox 360 premium comes with component cables, which are the best quality
cable you can use to hook up the console to your tv.

Use the component hookup and make sure the switch on the Xbox HD cable is set to
HD. You'll love it.

| I'm not sure what cables they come with in the U.K. Here in the states
they come with component cables which is the highest quality the 360
currently supports. I understand the UK uses another kind of cable
called SCART, but I don't have any experience with that.
The 360 doesn't currently support DVI or HDMI.

Monster's will give you a little better color saturation over the
generic MS brand, but I doubt your going to see a difference worth
spending the extra money. The MS brand should be fine.

I use the full HI DEF Component cable on AV2 on the media box on my 505XDE.
It is the dogs, good TV choice.
Don't be tempted to get a VGA lead, most old games do not support the
resolutions, and the full component that comes as standard with the premium
pack it the best.
I have my xbox on 720p for the Pioneer, I find the 1080i a little soft, and
all 360 games are optimized for the 720p standard.

Not true that the component cable is the best, it's entirely dependant on
your TV which lead will look better. If you're really bothered the only way
to tell is to try both and use your eyes ;)
But yeah, the standard component cable will look great, it just happens in
my case the VGA cable looks slightly better on my Sharp LCD.

But two reasons with the pioneer.
A VGA lead will stick out of the front of the media box and look silly. And
the resolution options within the 360 do not support most old xbox one games
that are officially supported and work with a comp cable (Ghost Recon 2
Summit Strike) for one example.

We support component here too. Scart is for standard televisions and more
widely used though.

Really Fubar? I bought the Samsung LCD that was for sale on play.com
(its a French model I think), tried running the 360 through VGA but
could not get a decent picture ,or rather the picture was excellent, but
could not get decent colour saturation.

| thats why i didn't buy a French model.

A rip off, maybe.
HOwever, anyone that thinks different cables don't make a difference is
an idiot. It's a simple fact that Monster cables look better than Mad
Catz or the standard MS brand. If you can't see the difference you
should have your eyes examined.

| There's just no way that cables could make that big a difference.
Especially considering the ample bandwith of component video.
You'ld be far better off purchasing a DVD calibration disk and learning
how to use it vs. worrying about cables.
I NEVER buy Monster cables or anything like that. Just junk.

| ScoFF 2006-02-25, 10:29 pm |
| Yes they do, I saw one at Crappy Shack.

Anyone slapping a Monster Cable kit on a game console needs their head
examined, IMHO.
Look, unless you need an extremely long cable, or are getting EM
interference because you ran the cables through your microwave, chances
are the Microsoft kit will suffice just fine.
Even if you could prove with instruments that Monster Cable's kit gave you
a "better" signal, I doubt that anyone could tell unless they were using a
very high-end display (and no, Xflop, your ancient display does not count
as "high-end"...) Even then, I'm still guessing that the difference would
be so slight that even if you COULD tell the difference, you'd most likely
agree that it's not worth paying 2-3 TIMES what the Microsoft cable costs.
Cables are important, but it's also important not to go overboard. Sure,
you could buy a cable that costs $1000 a foot. But the best cable in the
world isn't going to make a difference if all you're going to do is
connect it to that DVD player you got from Walmart.
