the PC and 360 or Either Wired or Wireless. If however one is Running
Wireless, at the moment my 360. I cannot connect to Windows Media Connect. I
can sign into xbox live, and everything else seams OK with the nework. Has
anyone else experiensed this?
Thanks in Advance!

| Are you running Media Center Edition 2005? Have you started with the
information here:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/...onnectivity.htm
Wireless works okay, as long as you're using 802.11a/g, however 802.11b is
not recommended. Using a Media Center Edition computer, it should be wired
to your router, so only one segment of the connection is wireless.
There are additional details, including the setup guide, here:

| Thanks for the response, Still no Joy.
i am using Windows XP SP2.
I have the PC hard wired to the Wireless Router, a linksys WRT54G
My xbox 360 is using the new 360 wirless adaptor.
Now if i set the PC to wirless also, the xbox will connect to the PC, also
if i hard wire the 360 when the pc is hard wired the 2 will connect OK. But
not if the PC is hardwired and 360 is wireless!!!!!
Thanks again Russ

| Sounds like when you're going wireless the Xbox 360 isn't part of the same
Workgroup (your Local Area Network system), where when it is wired it is
automatically being picked up correctly. I'd check in the Dashboard to make
sure everything is proper.

| Windows XP SP2 is NOT "Media Center Edition 2005" It's a different
Operating system! In reality it is XP, but it's still a different OS like
there's also a Tablet Edition 2005 also. Media Center and Media Player are
2 different things. Media player is on both systems. You can't just
install Media Center on your XP computer. So all you can do is Music and
Pictures. NO VIDEO. You can wait and Upgrade your OS to the new VISTA Home
version with the Media Center Capabilities built in version when it comes
out.

| Media Center Edition 2005 and the Tablet PC Edition 2005 are both
"supersets" running on top of Windows XP Pro. MCE is available via retail
channels, but there is no upgrade path as it requires a clean (format the
hard drive) installation.

| Thanks for all the suggestions to resolve this issue, especially Chris H.
Just incase anyone else has this problem, i found that and enabled loopback
setting on my router to be the cause.
Under, administration, management page on the router settings, disable
loopback!...
hope this helps anyone else with the same issue!

| here's what the help says!, this gave me the clue!
Enable / disable the loopback interface. The loopback interface makes your
internal clients appear as if they are external. This is useful for testing
things like DynDNS names. The loopback is an option because enabling it will
break PPTP and Windows machine browsing by wireless clients.
hope this helps anyone else with the same issue!

| Good deal. Never would have thought of that here. I don't use loop-back
and never have. Guess that's why my extenders connect the first time. 8-)
Thanks for posting the solution. Store the information, so you can assist
someone else with the problem.
