| Will the HD DVD add-on also be like an "upconvert" DVD player ...that plays
regular DVDs at closer to HD quality?
I ask because I almost bought a new DVD player today but the salesman
thought I should wait until the Xbox one comes out. I'm not sure he knew
what he was talking about though.

The sales guy didn't know what he was talking about. The 360's been out
for over a year now, and the HD-DVD addon has been out for about a week.
Neither the Xbox360 nor the HD-DVD add-on will upconvert regular DVDs.
Not that this is a big loss as you can get a upconverting DVD player for
like $100 - $120 if you get one that's region free

| Actually, that is not 100% true... If you use the VGA cable the HD-DVD
player will upconvert. Check out this in the Q&A from
http://www.krunker.com/2006/11/12/x...-player-review/
Q: Will the HD DVD player upconvert current DVD titles
A: If you use component cables, the player will not upconvert DVD titles. If
you connect a VGA cable between the 360 and the TV set, you can upconvert
your DVD titles to 720p, 1080i, or 1080p - depending on what your TV
supports
