Reinstall XBox software

| Hi. I've just moved moved from the UK to South Africa, and brought my
XBox with me. It worked fine for about 2 months, and then died.
Currently, when switched on, the XBox 'bubble' intro starts and
displays the XBox logo as normal. After that, it displays the
multi-language message saying 'Your XBox requires service...' I have
tried restarting it - No joy.
MS is not supporting the XBox in South Africa...
Is there some way I can re-install the OS software myself?

What is the error number in the corner of the screen. This will specify
exactly what the problem is. If the problem is with loading the
Dashboard (HDD Error) then most games will still run as the Dashboard is
not loaded. Do original games run if one is in the drive when it is
first powered on?
