| If using X360 with an hd-tv, which has better picture quality - the included
component cables, or should I get VGA cable?

Really depends on the quality of the inputs on the TV. It can go either
way.
If your TV supports 1080p and you're thinking about getting the HD-DVD drive
though I'd recommend the VGA lead, that will be the only lead that will
officially support both games and HD-DVDs at that resolution, component
might not support all films at that resolution.
