Will the Xbox 360 have a HDMI connector?
|
|
| Phyber Quest 2005-09-21, 8:35 pm |
| I have a Sony WEGA HD TV, and it has an HDMI connector on the back,
wondering if the new 306 will be able to connect to that?
(This TV was on Sale for 45% off the actual price due to electronic store
going out of business.)
Thanks.

Well this little store "Ultimate Electronic" was not doing well when Comp
USA and Circuit City opened up a few years back, then suddenly, this past
winter, Best Buy opened up across the way. That was the straw that broke the
camel's back. The sign claimed that their leased ran out, but everyone knows
it was the competition.
I made several visits to this store through out the week of it's out of
business sales. The price was slashed three times, until there was only one
left, so I took this Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27HS420 HDTV for just over
$400.00. You can read the specs here at this website link:

yProductInformation-Start?CategoryName=smb-tv_27%22to32%22TVs&ProductSKU=KV2
7HS420
There was a 30 (or was it 32) inch WEGA, but it was out of our price range.
I think it was asking around $700 or so. (You see, we do not purchase
anything unless we have the money, so we do not have any debts.)
I know that the 27 inch does not seem very big, but it was a huge jump
compared to our old 20 inch, and it is pretty nice when we play movies and
Xbox games. I have not yet tried any 1080i games yet. This TV can do 1080i.
I know I got a good deal and I am aware there are other "BETTER" TVs out
there. But I have another reason for getting Sony. I am deaf and depend on
the closed captions (subtitles for the deaf for those who do not know what
that was.) Well I really enjoy reading the texts on the Trinitron screens a
lot more than other screens. If that was not the issue, I would have maybe
gotten another brand.
I will admit, I am still learning how the Hi Def world works. I do not have
any High Def channels because I have not gone digital yet. Believe it or
not, it is because we cannot afford it. This TV was a combination of
Father's day and birthday gift which is why we could afford it at the time.
I noticed that I could attach a MacMini to the TV with the DV to HDMI cable,
but I have not tried it yet, because I do not know if that is a good idea?
Anyone know if that is alright or not?
I welcome any suggestions or links to take advantage of my TV's technology.
Anyway, keep your eyes out for going out of business sales. If it is a small
store, and the owner is there, haggle! Believe it or not, they will lower
the price a bit if you move it out right away!
Cheers!

| 8-) Sounds like a good deal. Our middle daughter (15) didn't do well in
her eye test last week, and yesterday wore new contacts (she's never had
glasses/contacts before) and when asked how it went at school she said, "It
was like having HDTV . . . I can see everything!). We love of satellite
HDTV. 8-)

As usual you don't know what are you talking about...
The answer is no, you can't connect a Tv to the xbox 360 through a HDMI
connection simply because the X360 simply can't output any digital video
signal.
No digital hdmi or dvi from x360, only analog component or rgbhv (vga) for
hdtv signals.
Another crappy choice by Microsoft.

There's nothing stopping them from releasing a HDMI cable at a later date.

Right waht?
Xbox360 ISN'T CAPABLE of otuputting digital video signals so IT CAN'T OUTPUT
NOTHING via an HDMI or DVI connection.
It has been said and confirmed.
Are you dumb or what? Or may be you just ignore what HDMI means?
The only possibility to have hdmi with xbox 360 is that Microsoft decide to
rebuild the xbox360 from scratch and sell a newer version.
An jdmi cable with the console that will come out in november would just be
a useless piece of plastic...
