There's probably some effect, if it's negative who knows. I certainly
didn't go around killing people after playing Wolf 3D or DOOM, or trying to
throw rocks at planes after playing space invaders, or go around munching
yellow pills in the dark after playing Pacman.
Film is probably the biggest culprit, because many of them wrap it up in a
realistic setting. Kids know games are just games.
Since a lot of the media is competing with games for people's time it's
obviously something they're going to go on and on about as they're losing
viewers.
With the Xbox 360 you'll be able to block certain age rated games and other
things on the console to stop your kids from playing games you'd rather not
have them playing, the same will be true in the next version of Windows
[Vista] too.
