XBOX Media Extender not working
|

| For some reason, my XBox media center extender does not work. It was
working at one point, but quit some time ago, probably about the time I
installed XP SP2--maybe a coincidence. I have followed all of the
instructions, I even uninstalled and re-installed. The Xbox tries to bring
up the media center menu, but after only a second or two of the menu, I get
the message that it could not connect.
Any help would be appreciated.

| I would check the windows Firewall. Try disabling it, or any other firewall
on the computer (that has Media Center). Then check if it will work.

| You should post your issues to the microsoft.public.windows.mediacenter
newsgroup where Media Center Edition computers and the Extenders are
supported. DO NOT disable your firewall. I run Xbox and other brand
Extenders here, and am running the Windows Firewall with no problems. Never
had to make any adjustment to the firewall at all.

| One of the BIGGEST issues related to this as of late is the installations of
MS Antispyware. Remove that (or close it out when running your Extender) and
your problems might be fixed.
