GTA San Andreas Rating
|

| Well it looks like there is an interesting issue with the Grand Theft Auto
San Andreas rating being changed to adult. There seems to be a number of
investigatons into the game for having unlockable sexual content. The FTC is
even looking into it. If you check out
https://www.lawyersandsettlements.c...ng_class_action
there is some more information and some articles on this. There is also a
free case evaluation provided. I found this interesting and thought others
might as well.

"If you feel you qualify for damages" - What a freaking bunch of whiners. I
mean , come on, you have to do tricks to get the additional content to
show..
The buzzard lawyers are circling....
(Sorry if any buzzards are offended by my statements).

| I don't believe that individuals should be allowed to get damages.
I do believe rock star should have a free exchange program to get a
non-adult version.
It doesn't matter how hard it is to get to the content, it's there.
The rating system is designed to give parents the ability to make a
decision about what type of content their child is exposed to without having
to play a game through and do hours of research.
Rock Star circumvented that process by hiding this stuff.
They knew that if the content was known to be present, then the rating would
have gone up to "adult" and stores like wal-mart and target would not stock
it.
Its hard enough to track and filter things like the internet and cable TV
for most people. Now they have to worry about their kids seeing porn in
video games.
Don't get this situation confused with freedom of speech or expression or
anything else like that. This isn't about any of that stuff.
It's about lying to the consumer, and for that, a reasonable liability
should be assumed by Rock Star.

I do think that Rock Star should offer voluntary free exchanges, but that is
just good PR. On the shipment out send some good ads about Grand Theft
Auto:Next, etc. It won't be a complete loss for either party.
The whole thing reminds of a joke:
An old woman calls the police and complains about a neighbor that is
flashing through his bedroom window. When the police officer gets there,
she shows him the view. The policeman is startled that the old woman could
not even see the man's windows from her apartment window. When asked about
this, the woman reponds, "Well, yes, you see, if I stand on this box here on
my tiptoes like so and look in that direction..."
What we have here is a modern version of that joke, but the lawyers are
hoping that the slow people don't realize it ...
