I want to know what peoples thoughts are on the current X-
Box controllers. Sure Microsoft released the 's'
controller, which I think was a wonderful move as they
basically (just), kept the original controllers
configuration and shipped it in a smaller package. Reason
I ask is that I feel that SONY did extremely well by
incorporating the same design from PS1 > PS2, so anyone
who moved up in consoles still felt that they had a
connection with the new machine as the hands on approach
still felt the same to the gamer. I'd like to see the
same controller utilised for the next X-Box as I find it
perfectly balanced and the best controller I have ever
used. When I picked up my Dual Shock to play GT4 (I
managed to find it under a discarded pile of rubbish that
haden't seen the light of day in well over 12 months), it
felt like a toy, like there was nothing to it and felt
that it would break and crumble in my hands. It put me
off playing my PS2 and could probably guarantee that I
won't pick it up again. I used to love my PS2 and
something such as a different controller has now put me
off. I will definately be an X-Box2 fan if the controller
feels right so that I can play those games for hours on
end. Does anyone feel the same?

The controller s is pretty good yeah, but I did like to see a few
adjustments. Wireless was already announced, but I also think the white
and black buttons aren't perfect and should be moved around and the
controller could still get a bit smaller. It is already called
controller s but still feels much bigger than the PS2 or Gamecube
controller.

I agree GB. The XBox controller feels more like a tool than a toy and
that's what I like. Give me a controller that demands my respect. I want
a controller that feels a solid as the system it's connected to. In
that respect, I hope the next generation controller is equally
representative.

-i agree here-

have you played a fighting game like street fighter, or
king of fighters, or any 2d fighting game in the xbox?
and then played the same game in a ps2?
the controller "s" lack of the precition of the ps2
digital device, and about the triggers, or the far far
away white and black buttons, i think that the ps2
controller is a lot better than the xbox's for fighting
games, but it is a lot more convenient than the one from
the game cube.

While I agree that the GC controller sucks for fighting games, there are
a few details I really like about the GC controller. I think it was a
pretty good idea to stop using the old diamond button layout and go with
the asymetric button layout. In most games you use one button a lot
more than the others, so having one big button with a few smaller ones
around is pretty nice. And while the xbox controller trigger feel much
more precise than the gc triggers, I like the "click" when you press
down the triggers to the end.
(And then there are some details I really hate about the gc controller
like the d-pad)
