I was not notified about the recent Update 1 for MCX Xbox so I guess I need
to register but there is no info anywhere on where/how to do this. Anyone
have any ideas?

Haven't you heard of Google? A quick search on "xbox media center extender
update" finds https://www.interactservices.com/MC.../PageDirect.asp

According the page the update will be sent via US Mail and can be sent anywhere
in the United States and Canada. Oddly enough the page where you fill in your
name & address allows you to choose from a list of all the countries in Europe
including the Vatican City.

No one was notified by directly. The information has been posted in the
..mediacenter newsgroup several times.

Hi Nigel, I have heard of Google - it rings a feint bell - but I guess you
haven't heard of reading a message properly first ;) I was not asking where
to get the update (I already ordered it), I was asking "Where do I register
Media Center Extender for Xbox?" so I am informed of future updates instead
of finding out about them by chance.

There doesn't seem to be a mechanism in place. At least for us UK Xbox MCX users
this update is moot anyway as it just fixes the HBO DRM problem.

Does anyone know exactly what this fixes? MS - can you fill us in on what
needed to be updated? I cannot get XBOX extender to work no matter what I try
unless I use a crossover cable.

It also corrected a playback problem for TV files recorded off of the
ATI TV Wonder Elite. Wasn't specifically designed for that, but I'm
guessing that there were some buffering updates included in the rollup
as well.

Can you fill in more details regarding the connectivity difficulties you're
encountering?
