I have lost my standard av cable which connects the xbox to the television,
do you know if Microsoft sends out replacements, thanks!

You may be able to buy a replacement - contact the appropriate Xbox helpdesk
for your country.

Or you could just visit any regualr store that sells xbox accessories and
get a replacement there. Microsoft won't "give" you a replacement AV cable
just cause you lost it though.

Since you have to buy a new cable, you might as welll look into either
the Advances AV Pack or the HDAV Pack. They're both put out by
microsoft and will give you better picture (Adv. uses S-Video, HD uses
Component) and 5.1 sound if you have a Dolby Digital decoding receiver.
If you don't have a DD capable receiver & your TV doesn't have at
least S-Video, then there's probably little point (unless the basic
composite cables set is the same price). Also note you'll need an
optical toslink cable for DD sound (purchase seperately for ~$10 for a
couple yards).
