XBOX Light Gun Problem with 57" HDTV

| I have an XBOX with the Silent Scope rifle which has worked on all of
the light gun games I have (House of the Dead 3, Starsky & Hutch &
Silent Scope Collection), but now that I have upgraded from a 27" to a
57" HDTV, the gun will not calibrate at all on any of these games. I
haven't seen any info in the manuals of these games, or the light-gun
itself as to having problems with a big-screen TV. Does anyone know
anything about this?
Thanks for your help!!

| Don't have a light gun here, but are you playing the games at the native
480p display (most Xbox games are) or some other expanded display setting on
the big screen? A lot of the TVs have settings which allow full-screen
display, but they're stretched or magnified to fit, but it could be throwing
off the gun calibration.

| This problem has to do with progressive scan. There are some over at
http://www.hdtvarcade.com who have gotten it to work. Try asking over
there.

| Hey, I also have the pelican rifle. I have not been able to get it to work
on DLPs and LCoSs (SXRD, D-ILA, and 3LCD are other name and variations of
these techs). Is your TV one of these technologies?

| The problem has to do with progressive scan. I believe there is one light
gun that works with HDTVs. I think there is more on it at

| Right. I read about them there. Progressive scan is one thing. However, I
have tried it using purely composite hookups (no progressive scan) and still
nothing. Your sites forum discusses. It is because the gun cannot see the
scan lines on non-direct view TVs. However, it did list a gun that claims to
be able to work with DLP, LCoS, LCD and PDP (plasma). I may try it out,
always like new toys to test and play with.
