Author Wireless Issues?

I've had my XBOX Live connection thru ethernet and it's worked fine.
Recently, I changed the location of the XBOX, and now need to use wireless
to connect to the Linksys router.

I bought an XBOX wireless adapter, and can't connect. Anyone else have
this problem? I was on the phone with XBOX for 2 hours and they were
unable to resolve.

Could this be a firmware issue on the XBOX? This is an original XBOX. If
so, where can I get the new firmware to update?

Thanks!

When you say "can't connect" what do you mean? What error message are you
receiving? If you happen to be using WPA encryption on your base station,
the MN-740 can only do WEP, so you would need to drop the encryption down.

Depending on what router you are using, and which wireless bridge
(wireless/ethernet adapter) you may have to hook a pc into the adapter first
and edit its settings. When I set up my Xbox for wireless, I used the D-link
router and bridge, so everything was plug and play out of the box. However,
once I established my security settings (change SSID, turn off broadcast
SSID, turn on WEP) I had to update those settings on the bridge.

If you don't have the paper instructions, they are probably available
online. Also, you would need to get that info off of the router. The bridge
will have a unique IP, which you can use with a web browser to edit the
information.

I have found that most of the major brands (D-link, Linksys, Belkin,
Microsoft, etc) all work basically the same, just a few tweaks here and there.

Also, I found xbox.com very helpful for getting info and links to the brands
they have certified as live compatible.
