90nm Cell ---> 65nm Cell ---> 45nm Cell, Multi-Chip ---> Multi-Core

--------> 65nm 'Mini Cell' ---> 45nm 'Mini-Cell' ---> 'Micro-Cell'

so now we know a very rough outline of the roadmap Sony-IBM-Toshiba
have for Cell processors. this comes only a few months after
Sony-Nvidia reveal (through Ken Kutaragi) that they have a graphics
processor roadmap beyond RSX. With next-gen Cell and next-gen
graphics processors (beyond 90nm Cell and 90nm RSX for PS3) in
development now, Sony will should be able to maintain its technological
edge over Microsoft so that PS4 will out-gun the next-next gen Xbox.

Then what happens?

"Then what happens?"

-Well, remember that according to Kutaragi PS2 was able to do "ToyStory in
realtime!", and Cell was supposed to handle the graphics too. Then Sony
found out the Cell is actually (a lot) less powerful than first thought, so
they had to get nVidia to port quickly a PC part (GeForce 7800) for PS3.

So I wouldn't take to seriously anything said by Mr Kutaragi. He seems to
have some issues with "facts" and "truth". A bit like that other guy, the
one in the fruit company that makes computers...

"One of the basic premises of the Xbox is to put the power in the
hands of the artist," Blackley said, which is why Xbox developers "are
achieving a level of visual detail you really get in 'Toy Story.'"

That is a planted lie turned into an Urban Legend by xflop fanfairies.
Try to track down the original reference source for this lie of an
urban legend. You won't be able to because Sony and/or Kutaragi never
made that statement. There are thousands of references to it, repeated
over and over, but try to find out where it started. This is the actual
reference. Look at the date and look who made the quote (Bill Gates)
and what the claim was about :

http://wired-vig.wired.com/news/tec...0.html?tw=wn...
Jan. 06, 2001
"Gates said the 3-D chips in the Xbox would be three times faster than
anything on the market and offer nearly unlimited graphical visuals.
"We're approaching the level of detail seen in Toy Story 2," he said,
referring to the computer-generated kids film from Disney/Pixar."

Sony's marketing department says "HIII!" from 1999...

""The new microprocessor will allow users to handle nearly 50
times more 3-D image data compared with Sega Enterprises Ltd.'s (7964)
Dreamcast game console. It will also let users produce game characters
comparable in image quality to Walt Disney's Toy Story. "

Sometimes kicking Bligmerk in the nuts is just too easy. Despite the fact he
doesn't have any.

Google for "Playstation 2" +"comparable in image quality to Walt
Disney's Toy Story". You get 101 hits.
