Er no.

It is marketing's job to promote the products that it believes will earn
money for the company.

And those aren't necessarily the best products, or the latest ones.

What company would be stupid enough to tell its customers that last year's
product is out of date, if last year's product is currently making $9
million a day?

Unless there is direct competition, no company is forced to innovate, or
market the results of R&D.
