Author Bungie.net not responding

Below, I'm copying an email message I sent to the support and webmaster
addresses for Bungie.net. Has anyone else encountered this issue that
I'm seeing? Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance,

Hello! Thanks for building and maintaining such a fun tool in
Bungie.net and its Halo 2 stat tracking capabilities! I'm having an
issue using Bungie.net, and I'm seriously hoping I can get some help
resolving this.

Essentially, the issue is that I can't see Bungie.net from my connection
at home. I had previously been using it everyday, then I took a 2-3
week hiatus, as my wife and I had our first child. Now I'm back on Halo
2, and I again want to use Bungie.net for stat tracking, but it appears
that Bungie.net is invisible to me, like I'm being blocked on a firewall
level somewhere. I can't ping it, can't connect to it on port 80,
nothing, nada, zip. I KNOW I was able to connect to it before, though.
So sometime in the past two or three weeks, I've lost my ability to
see Bungie.net.

My current IP address is <redacted for newsgroup>. If I tracert to
Bungie.net, which my DNS server tells me is 64.4.59.143, it's all fine
until hop 14, ten9-3.bay-osr-b.ntwk.msn.net (64.4.63.113), and then
after that, it's all dropped packets. I've tried release/renewing on my
router, but my ISP, Roadrunner, doesn't seem to be granting me a new IP
address. That's not terribly unusual, as I've had the same IP address
for months at a time before. According to my logs, my IP address just
changed on Monday, but I have no way of knowing if I was having this
issue before then. I get the same result from every system connected to
my router, and there have been no recent hardware/software changes.

I wonder if my RSS reader was making too many calls and an automated
system got pissed off and blacklisted me (or worse, my whole subnet)?
Or, more likely, if maybe some idiot who had this IP address before used
it (either consciously or as a zombie) for spam?

Any help you can give me in isolating this issue would be gratefully
appreciated, but I realize that you guys have better things to do than
deal with a single customer's connection issues. I am thankful for
whatever you can do.

Thanks,

- Cam Soper

Glad to see it's not just me. Are you getting something similar when
you do a tracert?

Strange thing is, I can see it from work. I can't do a tracert from
work, though, because our firewall blocks all ICMP traffic.

12:42 - East Coast - I can get there, as you would expect from the email,
but at least it is some confirmation.

I cannot ping it, though - ICMP could be ignored.

For grins, can you temporarily try a dialup from home to see if it is IP
related, since you should get another IP address (if your provider supports
it).

Yeah, I'm at work and I can see it fine from here. All outbound ICMP is
being blocked by the corporate firewall, so I can't even attempt a tracert.

Most connections going into Microsoft's servers discard the attempts to
directly do a tracert or ping at a certain point. That's their normal
security measures. 8-) It may be the routing we're taking.

<snip>

I've been in contact with Bungie, and they tell me they're not aware of
an issue, but they'll yell at their datacenter people and see what
happens. As of 4:30 CST, it's back up and working for me.

Cool- could have been a DNS change that had not propagated yet.
