Basic Halo2 observations/questions

| During deathmatch:
It seems like you are able to jump alot higher than was possible in Halo 1.
Anyone think they went to far with it? I do.
How come they did away with health packs? Anyone know why they decided to
make them not necessary?
I've noticed that when I fall from a ledge, no health is deducted. If you
fell in Halo 1 you would lose health.

| I don't know about the jump thing, probably put in to make the game
just a little different, I do know this though, press the crouch key at
the last second to get a little higher.
as for the health packs that was to stop the annoying situation in the
campaign game where it would save just after you had your healt
depleated and you were in the middle of a battle, personaly I think the
lack of health packs is a good idea,
As for the ledge thing, once again no idea.
sorry I couldn't be of more use.

| I am not sure I if read it on this newsgroup, the instructions, or if the
game itself tells you when you start a campaign, but they got rid of med
packs because of the faster recharging shield AND because master chief is
immune to falling damage (since he is mostly metal anyways...)
Also the game does tell you in the beginning (I am mostly sure) that you can
now jump a lot higher.

Personally I am not a big fan of those two changes. I don't mind being
able to jump a lot higher, but watching people fall from rediculous
heights and take no penalty (I'd be satisfied if you were just
disoriented) is a little annoying. Likewise I dislike how you can be
attacked to the virge of death a dozen times and walk away a second
later without as if nothing happened.

| As for falling damage, it allowed the game makers to up the intensity level
of the campaign mode. Otherwise you would never survive on heroic or
legendary against more than 2 or 3 brutes. (unless you just happened to run
into them with the perfect weapons setup.)

Not sure if you have the Collectors Edition, but the bonus DVD explains that
they added higher jumping, did away with health packs by adding faster
recharging and made no damage for falling. And they explained the reasoning
behind it. Not sure if the videos are posted online or not. But they did it
for an improved consumer experience and more fast paced gaming and longer
play time.

| The armor helps him jump higher and does not take any damage when falling
from great heights
