Swap between 2 disc
|
|
| author 2004-11-14, 6:45 am |
| I have a game which it's split over 2 disc. The game is starting ok
from both disc, but when it needs something from the other disc, it
comes with the standard "dirty disc error". I expect that I could swap
the disc, and continue the game, but nothing happen.
Is there any special I should do, after such an error ??
If I play some other game (one disc), and takes the disc out while
playing, I obvious also get the "dirty disc error". But if I insert
the disc again, I'm not able to continue the game.
I'm not sure if it's possible to do so ?
Any 1 ??
TIA

He's very likely pirated DOAU, in which case he doesn't belong here. Or
anywhere.
If you buy the game and rip it to your HD, it works just fine.

We will provide an answer when you tell us which Xbox game you have that is
over 2 disks.
This will greatly help us diagnose you problem and provide a solution.

I found a solution with the 2 disc prob!
-so no further information/help needed.
But the above question is not about 2 disc, it's a general question
about "dirty disc error". If you could give me some hint about that,
it would appreciated.
TIA

OK - you are not required to remove a game disk from the Xbox during play
and should not.
In certain circumstances you may be able to replace the disk before it is
accessed again, in other cases you may not and may receive various errors.
The solution to your problem is to not remove the game disk during play -
only do so when you have completed you game and intend to switch off or
start a new game from a new disk.
As requested for our own reference please provide the name of the Xbox game
you have that is shipped on 2 disks.

I know, but it is possible ;)

So in most cases the "dirty disc error", is the same as restart ??
What I mean is, if I play some video from a cd in my windows machine,
take it out, the video will stop, but it will continue if I insert the
cd again.

| Yah the kid is a thief...pirated xbox games..complained
because it didnt work prolly cause they split it on two
discs because it couldnt fit onto one.
Then he goes and tries to confuse people intentionally
wether its a PC game or Xbox game.. He is talking about
the xbox after his smart comment to the MS employee saying
it is possible.
What a dumb kid.

Or at least be smart enough to rip down some FMVs. But then he wouldn't be
asking the question at Microsoft.public.xbox if he was smart, so I guess
that particular conundrum is solved...

Do not confuse the behaviour of a PC running Windows with an Xbox.
Removal of the disk may have a catastrophic effect on the playing
media/game.
And you still have not supplied the name of the Xbox game that you appear to
have on 2 disks.
Let's cut to the chase - are you using a pirated game ?
If so, your problem will be solved if you use legally purchased games
instead of participating in software piracy/theft.

Nick,
Maybe you did not read all the response to the original posters question and
observed the deliberate evasion of the true nature of his problem as he
tried to avoid actually talking about his Xbox game on 2 disks, but he was
answered fully.
I had no intention of explaining to the poster about how an Xbox differs
from a PC in relation to the underlying operating system and game
interaction and construction.
It is sufficient for him to know
1. Xbox games come on one disk (at present) so there is no need to remove
the disk during gameplay.
2. removal of a disk and reinsertion "may" work but may also through various
errors (due to the nature of an Xbox differing from that of a PC in so many
ways.)
If you wish to post your response to the original posters question please do
so and contribute something to the group.
