Saturn USB pad on Xbox

Has anybody had any success using a standard USB pad on the Xbox with an
adapter? Until Sammy or ASCII step up to create an appropriate fighting
controller, I'm thinking about using Sega's new Saturn-styled USB pad for
games like SNK vs Capcom and the new 3D King of Fighters title. Just
curious to know if the buttons map well, or if the device is even
acknowledged as a controller by the hardware. Any feedback is appreciated.

One hope is that maybe Capcom will make a 6 button controller for the Xbox
version of the Street Fighter Anniversary Edition, like they did for the PS2
version.

They aren't bad for some games...like MK and the upcoming SNK vs Capcom that
really only use a 4 button layout...but for stuff like SF and such, that use
the 6 button layout, they suck. The horrid Xbox controller is also one of the
reasons I took back Capcom vs SNK 2 EO(well, past the game-ruining lag that
is). ;)

just go get yourself an x-arcade stick, first and last stick you should need
to buy. Had mine for about a year now, still working flawlessly and I agree
with ya.... I dont get how people can play fighters with a controller

X arcade sticks have a poor reputation. Mas or hori tend to make
superior sticks.

The advantage of the X-Arcade stuff is that it's adaptable to any console
or to USB, depending on what decoder modules you want to buy. On the other
hand, how realistic is it to have one single controller work out on every
last console you have? Back to the first hand though, how many freaks
actually have more than two game consoles in action at once? Which brings
us back to the second hand, where you have freaks like me who have the
Saturn and all the Playstations and the Dreamcast and the Xbox and the
bleeding 3DO and Atari Jaguar and Neo CD all plugged in all at once.
Okay, somehow we ended up with four hands. And yet, the original
question remains unanswered. I did a Google search and a Dejanews search
(which is also a Google search, but I'll cheerfully disregard that right
now...) Anyway, it looks like the majority of the world wants to use the
Xbox controller in other USB hosts, rather than using other USB
controllers on the Xbox. I'll keep searching for people who want to do it
my way.
-KKC, who is presently surrounded by joysticks. That sounds a lot dirtier
than it really is. :/

So's the Pellican Real Arcade stick. The Pellican doens't suffer from
input lag tho. Seems an advantage to me.

I didn't know that about the Pelican stick. Good information, but the
universal connectivity is an advantage all around. Everybody's entitled to
use whatever they like, of course. There's no need to start an argument
where there is none.
And still, this thread lumbers on with no feedback about using standard
USB input devices on the Xbox. Surely somebody has tried this before?

Namco made some nice arcade sticks for the PS1 a while back they work
fine with the PS to Xbox converter I have. I won't post link so as
not to look like a spammer but I have a pair of these on E-Bay right
now. Just search for"Namco Joystick".

Perhaps, but I'd still argue that the Pellican is a flat out better
stick, and a better value to boot. You don't have to buy seperate
adapters at $30 a pop to use the Pellican for example.

poor reputation?, how so..... I've never seen / heard anything but glowing
reviews on them and being an owner of one I will always recommend them to
other gamer buddies of mine. I have the PS1/PS2 and Xbox connectors for the
stick, and there is 0 input lag on it at all and after bashing my way
through countless fighters and shooters with it both sides still respond as
perfect as the day I got it.
I just really appreciate how the stick is the most versatile out of any
other that I've seen. I may be able to get a slightly higher quality stick
but most that I see aren't usable on all games (not enough buttons) and its
the only one that I've seen thats usable on multiple consoles (plus PC and
mac) without using a converter.

The Xbox convertor introduces a lag into the stick's response. This is a
major complaint against the stick. The 2 player config is useless, which
is another big strike against it. X Arcade also uses cheaper "real"
arcade parts which doesn't do a whole lot for the stick's longevity. (X-
Arcade claims that they custom manufacture their buttons, but they still
have other manufactuer's imprints on them which is suspicious.)
Generally in the fighting game community (Shoryuken, Soulcalibur.com,
Tekkenzaibatsu etc), X Arcade is not well regarded.

EB sells the Pelican Real Arcade stick. It's tons cheaper, and is fully
compatible out of the box with Xbox, PS2, GC...

Very surprising, and I really can't agree that it adds in any lag. Have you
ever tried one for yourself?. I've used actual PS2->Xbox converters before
on controllers and I found lag in those right away, the xbox connector for
the xarcade completely replaces the connector from the stick to the console,
so its not really converting anything at all. My inputs on soulcalibur are
at exactly the same speed as if I were playing with an xbox controller.
It is true that the 2 player one isnt the most comfortable thing in the
world to actually use with 2 people. But sit close, each of you support it
on one thigh, and play that way and its allright, extended periods of
playing can cramp your wrist while sitting that way tho but I dont get that
when playing alone.
Oh well, I guess people are more picky than I am

Ah, this I've never seen.... I just checked up on it online and I cant
believe that its even close to the quality of the xarcade...... its under
20$ and looks quite cheap. Of course I'd have to actually try it before
passing full judgement

It's case is particle board. The thing's solid, and quite large/weighty.
