Anybody know if one can fix a balky left thumbstick? Or do I simply have to
replace the controller?

I am sure in some situations-you can fix it, but it is probably better to
replace it. Depending on the cost for it....

I've been having with both of mine lately also. I figured it would be the
best bet to just open it up and clean it out. I've had to do this with
other systems and they're controllers too. This is far cheaper than buying
a new one or having it repaired.

Remove all the screws from the bottom. Pop it open and use one of those
cans of compressed air to clean out the thumbsticks. Use a thin cotton
cloth to wipe off the other parts. Just remember to unplug the joystick.
Worked like a charm when I was done.
