| I noticed that Microsoft has tech support newsgroups for it's various OS's,
usually staffed by guru's/moderators. Is there one like that for Xbox?
Particularly Xbox live problems?
I'm having a problem setting up my Xbox live account. I've got my internet
connection up and running, and it test connects ok under the "Network
Settings" area. However when I go to create my account (with my 12 month
subscription card/kit), I keep getting the error message:
"There is a problem with your account. Please contact the telephone number
listed in your Instruction Manual"
This has been a royal pain, considering I have to keep typing in all my
credit card, address etc information every time since there is no way to
save this if you have to turn off machine. Not to mention, there is no tech
support number in the tiny manual that came with the Xbox live kit.
Any one have any idea what kind of problem this is exactly?
A few things I've already tried:
- changing the way my name is typed in CC info (John A. Smith, John Smith,
John A Smith etc)
- made sure card had money on it, plenty of it. I even test purchased
something just to make sure from EBgames hehe.
- Bellsouth DSL is supported and the network connection works
- tried a different credit card. This time I got "cannot authorize that
credit card, try another one" error. Hmm
- checked every single piece of address etc 4 or 5 times
Ugh, this is frustrating. I've had an Xbox since it came out, but have
lolly-gagged on getting Xbox Live. Now that I finally have the kit, I can't
get online!
Thanks for any help that someone can provide. I just wish there was a way I
could sign up for the account from the internet, so I didn't have to retype
that stupid info with a game pad!
