Author Blocked Region? How to overcome?

Bought my son an Xbox game in USA on a recent trip and it will not run here
in New Zealand, coming up with the error message that it is blocked as wrong
region.

Anyway of fixing this? Like with DVD's this is easily bypassed?

Thanks
Frenchy
Not very popular with his son!

There is no easy fix. See here for a thorough explanation:

North America is NTSC and New Zealand is PAL (I believe). Is the game not
available in NZ?

Shucks!
Thanks, I get the picture and yes we are PAL, although most modern TV sets
here are PAL/NTSC switchable if needed.

I am sure the game is available here in NZ, but not much help to me, who
already bought it in the US!

That's cool that TV's are switch-able, unfortunately the Xbox is not. You
could always sell the game on eBay, and tout is as "the game that knows no
boundaries!".

The region coding is easy to bypass by installing a mod chip. See for
example http://www.xbox-scene.com/ for plenty of information on modding
your box.

Just don't ever connect to Live with the chip in, don't complain when you
obviously void your warrantee, and don't complain from any legal issues that
may crop up.
