I've just bought an xbox and am having problems getting it linked up for
surround sound. The reason being that the xbox to tv/sound connector is
joined at the end where the three cables are and therefore will not stretch
to my surround sound. Do they make any alternate ones that will enable me to
set it up like this?

Also...

I need a long cable that will stretch about 10-15 metres from my internet
connection to my tv downstairs so that I can start on xbox live. Does anyone
know which extension lead to get and where from? I'm in the UK.

Thanks

You won't get "real" surround sound(1) using a stereo signal, you'll need
the advance scart cable, and a *digital* optical lead to hook into a DD5.1
decoder.

If you are just after extending the phono to get the stereo signal Dixons
sells extenders. If your speakers have a DD5.1 decoder, then you don't want
to waste your time bothering with this and should pick up the advanced scart
(or a 3rd party one) so you have RGB and a digital audio out and then an
optical wire (you can get lots of different length ones).

(1) Yes Pro Logic is branded as "surround" but the idea of just processing a
stereo signal some how makes it surround is something I'll never support,
individual channels only!!!

You can get ethernet cables from pretty much anywhere that deals with
computers, PC World, Game (I think even B&Q sells them!).

How exactly are you setup?

If you just need to plug it into the modem or router then a regular *patch*
ethernet cable will do. If you're connecting through your PC then you'll
need a *cross-over* ethernet cable.
