| Hi All,
Trying to network my 360 to my XP machine, but i'm having numourous problems
with the media player 11 installation, does anyone know of a location which
i can download just the media connect that was avalible before media player
11 was avalible?

sure you can get it from www.xbox.com/pcsetup at least thats where i got it
from a few weeks back

| We should figure out what's wrong with the setup instead of backtracking.
WMP 11 contains better connection software and replaces the previous Windows
Media Connect. Have you removed the previous connection on the Xbox 360,
then go into WMP 11 and set up the file sharing?
What anti virus software do you have running? If it is anything like
Norton, McAfee, PCcillin or even ZoneAlarm, that may be blocking the
connection. Remember, the installation of WMP 11 is "new" on the PC so
anything previously allowed in the firewall doesn't count.

| Actually, WMP 11 a bit more than Windows Media Connect did for Extenders,
however the problem is whatever anti virus or third-party software firewall
is in place on the PC needs to be modified to allow the "new" traffic for
WMP 11 first. Then WMP 11 works darn near automatically.

| Sorry for the long delay in replying.
Problem i'm having is errors during installations, computer freezes every
time at random points during installation. No other problems running or
installing other programs, just WMP11.
Virus scanned, defragmented, spyware/adaware scanned, all appears ok.
I'll try media connect from Xbox.com, cheers all, will report back on if it
works properly.

| Might be a good idea to take a look in Control Panel/Administrative
Tools/Event Viewer (both Application and System in the left panel) to see if
it reveals either yellow triangles or red circles with white X's listed in
the right pane. Those are indications of problems, and may be right-clicked
with the selection of Properties to reveal a portion of the error. It
sounds like one of your Services isn't started to support WMP11, so it is
failing.
