Author Microsoft withdraws XBox "Simulator"!
Bill Merde

2007-01-30, 8:02 pm

It had to happen, hey? In typical India-giver fashion, the lord
William Gates III giveth and he taketh away. It leaves me to
wonder if his true lineage stems from Raj-hood.

I'll admit, I was intially sceptical that the free XBox-on-a-PC
would even run a game, let alone run it at native speeds and
beyond, but when I downloaded and installed it and saw Black
and Halo 2 running as smooth as smooth could hope to be, I
had to say that I was finally impressed with Microsoft - after
all these years. But how long did it remain available before
they pulled it? Let's see...

....It was first trumpeted on http://www.xbox.com/ on the 1st
of this month, and downloadable from:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/90750912

Then it was remove on the 12th, with absolutely no reason
what-so-ever. And to pour salt on the wound, Microsoft are
no offering free XBox development tools for the 360 instead!
That's a complete shift of perspective!

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/...CreatorsPR.mspx

They originally released the XBox "simulator" because it
worked with ALL XBox games, unlike the 360. Now, sure,
Microsoft don't have to give us anything for free, but at this
time of year - in the festive period of good will to all men - did
they have to taunt us so?

Anyway, if anyone wants a copy I've put it in my XDrive
storage space. E-mail me for the link and let's spread it far
and wide!

Merry bloody Christmas!

Would love to have seen this & I must admit I wasn't even aware it was
about. If MS had given this away for 360 owners with their purchase it
could have got around a lot of the BC grumbles.

Then pull your head out of your arse and download it.

Incidentally, I'm using it fullscreen TV-out on my 6800GT (latest nVidia
drivers), but whenever I move the mouse to the far right of the desktop
it moves over onto the TV screen. Sure, it looks funny seeing a mouse
pointer on an XBox, but is there a freeware program (of driver setting)
to restrict the mouse to a particular screen?

Thanks.

Do you have a problem with me pal? That's an old joke, mate. Don't
you have anything smarter to say? The kids at my son's school can do
better than that without even trying. I asked a simple question and you
are obviously too immature to bother attempting to answer. Not got
anything better to do? Grow up Alan. You're just a pathetic little man.

If the jokes old maybe you should consider changing your name, and not
posting shite. Funny that you're the only one that's picked up on this
'free' MS xbox emulator, that now doesn't exist on MS site, and we've
got to email you to get a copy of something that no-one else on the net
seems to know about, install it on our PCs and then what?

Crawl back in your hole.

Suit yourself Alanis, I can't be bothered arguing with you. It's utter
pricks

Awww, please Bill, come back, I'm enjoying it and it's relieving the
boredom at work...

You couldn't write it, someone called Bill Shit posting this.

I tell you what, I believe you, give me the link to your XDrive and
I'll blindly install what is more than likely a trojan on my PC, just
to prove that you really are a decent fellow.

It's a bit flakey on some of the games I tried, so maybe that's why they
removed it?
My advice: don't get so worked up. I'm sure they'll release another more
stable
version. (Prince of Persia The Two Thrones crashed straight off the bat.)
The video
also looks stretched on anything other than native TV resolutions (though
640x480
is fine), but audio is perfect. Nice find all the same.

All I need to do now is find a way to copy my XBox saves onto the PC. ;-)
Anyone?

It is apparent to me that you have trust issues. Perhaps your father (or
could it be your grandfather) molested you as a child? It's common
for victims of child molestation to go on to abuse children themselves.
Is that what you do? Hang around school playground waiting for your
next hapless victim? People like you should be shot.

If you want a copy, Puffmeat, ask someone else in the group. I *know*
it has already been downloaded from my XDrive today, so someone
here has it. As far as I'm concerned, you can eat my shit.

Tsk tsk, if your mother could hear you talking like that Billy-Bob,
she'd have a heart attack.

You're getting all defensive and obusive, perhaps because your pitiful
attempt at grooming didn't work on here? You seem to know all about
stalking little children Bill.

Stop picking on my daddy. His EggBox emulator is real and he was kind
enough to tell all you loosers about it and all you loosers could have had
a really good Christmas because of my daddy but now you are all loosers

I can see that I've caused quite a fuss, when all I really
wanted to do was inform the subscribers of these groups
of a wonderful opportunity. But now it is obvious that
I have made a mistake.

Sometimes, people like me - with the best intentions in the
world - go out of their way to inform others of the free
software out there on the 'net that nobody else has brought
to light. And sometimes, people like me - with the best
intentions in the word - are abused by the very same people
they set out to enlighten. It saddens me.

I've been playing with MS Extreme all day, and enjoying
the experience - for the most part. Yes, there are bugs,
and yes, it is only an alpha, but so what? Apparently there
are two people in this group other than myself who have
tried it out. Good for them!

Everyone else who'd rather drag my name through the mud
can do what they please, for all I care. But leave my children
out of it. Alanis's contant e-mail bombardment has meant
I've had to disable that address. Thank you Alanis! Grow
up, stop bombarding that address and let me keep the
freeware mailing list running. You're spoiling it for over 700
subscribers.

As for whether it was naive of me to request people's e-mail
addresses, like several of you have mentioned, perhaps you
are right. I'll certainly know not to do it again.

So accept this posting as a pubic appology.

But it pains me to think that so many people in the world are
just *so* eager to drag someone down. Sure, you may not
believe something I tell you unless you see it with your own
eyes, but that doesn't give you the right to abuse me, my
family and the services I offer. Some of the personal attacks
against me were very hurtful and completely unnecessary.
And even Alanis would appreciate that if he stopped and
thought about the amount of damage his ping flooding against
my address is doing.

What has happened with the world today? Why are so many
people so malicious? Alanis's actions just go to prove that
the internet is more like the wild west.

I didn't intend to burden anyone, anywhere, with my discovery,
but it is apparent that I have. And therefore I take it back. I
have removed it from my XDrive. If someone really does care
to check it out then I'm sure they'll track it down. There are
some smart people in this group. But I really wish the idiots
wouldn't ruin it for the rest of us.

Some of the personal attacks against me we quite damaging,
and have stretched my relationship with my family to the limit.
My partner and I are nolonger speaking, my child has now
seen the internet for what it really is - and refuses to do his
homework for fear of saying something wrong to somebody
of Yahoo! Answers - and I am considering completely
abandoning my freeware mailing list. People, have a heart!
It's so near to Christmas but you treat your fellow man with
such contempt!

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Good bye.

This is a freeware newsgroup. Avast! is a freeware virus scanner, so I'm
sure it's quite common. Further more, I'm running XP SP2 with the latest
patches, as so many other people will be, therefore the version of OE I
use is also quite common. Blueyonder is also a popular choice of ISP
in the UK. And, finally, I lurk - like so many others. If I've got nothing
to
say then I'll keep my gob shut. Is that a crime? Today I had something to
say.

Now do the math and a little research, and I'm sure you'll find far more
than three people (or just two, considering that Mr Merde looks to have a
multiple personality disorder) who use OE to peruse newsgroups sourced
through Blueyonder with Avast! as their virus scanner.

Stop being so cynical and presumptuous, you may learn something. (Such
as not following a question mark with a period, not putting a space before a
question mark, or using only three periods in an ellipses.)

This is a serious accusation, "Bill".

If you're sure you're being ping flooded then report the IP to
your ISP and let them deal with it. I'm sure you can do that,
can't you? I mean, you SEEM to know what ping flooding is.
Or are you mistaking this for Alan's alleged e-mail flooding
of your mailing list? Incidentally, who services your mailing
list? I'd love to read it, "Bill". Or perhaps you have your
own mailserver at freewareworld.com? Hell, I even wonder
if they've EVEN acknowledge you, "Bill"?

And not putting whole sentences in brackets... (3)

Just pointing out some odd coincidences - 3 (5?) people who have never
posted before all turning up on the same day with all those things the
same including the posting host ip address.

Nah, that's perfectly acceptable grammar. Put an entire paragraph in
brackets
if you wish, but Strunk and White wouldn't be too impressed if you did the
same
with an entire chapter.

Yup, but I'm more interested in the grammar at this particular moment in
time.
Anyway, and suffice it to say, you might not want to single out Blueyonder
or it just may draw more of their customers out of the woodwork. ;-)

Whatever you say Alan. First I try to offer a public service,
then you abuse me. I try to resolve this like a gentleman,
but - oh no! - Alan is far too immature for that. I mean, what's
your problem pal? You've had it in for me from the word go,
and I did nothing to deserve this. Most everyone else has at
least tried to be nice.

Is this some kind of personal vendetta Alan? Have I done
anything ever to specifically annoy you? Presumably you're
not like this to everyone (or perhaps you are?) so either I
caught you on a bad day, or I really have done something to
upset you. And I thought we'd resolved all this through
e-mail? Please yourself. I'm more than willing to let this
thread die, but you don't seem able to. Do you see this
newsgroup as your own public forum?

Please, let it rest Alan. I've happily accepted your own
appology. If you can't be mature about it, go troll some
other newsgroup - you're starting to look very foolish and
I think everyone now understands what games you're up to.

Hi. Thanks Michael. Unfortunately I've had to pull the download
because one or two people thought it dubious. To that end, I'll be

Quote from emulator-zone

"The Xbox is a console made by Microsoft. It uses modified x86 compatible
hardware and thus it is possible to write an emulator for it. You can also
find many homebrew applications and emulators that run ON the Xbox.
Many people have taken advantage of the fact that the Xbox is so similar to
a pc to trick others that their emulator was real when in reality it did
nothing or was a virus.
Be very careful when trying one to avoid accidents!

Are you sure? Maybe that would work but I think I'd be wary
recommending this as some people might hurt themselves climbing into
the bath while carrying that heavy electronic equipment.

I'll give you chilled. Two hours in a dimly lit room with a hot-chick,
who forced me to endure a full-body exfoliation and massage, a head
massage and a *cough* facial.

I'm now into a twenty-quid bottle of wine and an authentic imported
salami which, though it tastes like angels shagging on my tongue, looks
unfortunately like a mould-encrusted turd.

You're all having a worse time than me tonight, I just wanted you to
know.

I'd use a different word than bastard, seeing as the 'progenesis' of
English is so clearly defined.
