The problem with movies is the tiny 360 HD. If you plan on watching a movie
as soon as you DL'ed it (which would take awhile for sure) I guess it would
be OK, but forget about storing them. MS really needs to get off their butts
and come up with a way to be able to transfer files to a PC. You could
archive all your older game saves, and move all the trailers and stuff like
that over to your PC. If they did that I'd be more interested in buying one.

Agreed. I just don't understand why Microsoft can't:
1) Offer a larger hard drive.
2) Enable archiving files to a networked PC.
3) Offer online storage of game saves.
They're missing the boat with this stuff.

there's already a product on the market that let's you move datea between
your 360's hard drive and your pc. I think it's called xsata or
something...

|
| With movie downloads they are streamed so after about 2 minutes the film
starts playing. You can stop it and wait for the whole thing but nah!

| Mike,
I am having a problem with HD movies. The movie is 6 gig and I thought after
a few minutes it would allow me to watch it. However, it's not. XBOX Live is
forcing me to download it completely.
It didn't do this for a 480p movie. What gives?

| It usually has a lot to do with the codec being used (this is from
experience). While regular AVI and MPG will run when parts of them are
downloaded, DivX and any other compressed format won't. I have to admit that
I'm not an expert in the field of media and I'm just trying to help here...
maybe someone will correct me.

| Thanx Andre!
If this is the case, I can see alot of people being frusterated when
downloading HD movies. Let's not forget, the movie is 1/2 of my HD.

| Yeah I think that Microsoft created the movie download service simply to try
to show up the PS3 as a console that provides entertainment in many forms.
However, the fact that no hard drive bigger than the 20 gig exists sort of
kills the utility of this kind of service. I can see there being a market
for such a service on the PC where people often have the PC plugged to the
TV or have a huge TV size monitor, but on the 360 it is a little too soon.
Besides, many people that have an HDTV often have digital cable in HD as
well and renting a movie on this platform is generally less expensive and
provides faster downloads.

| I think it's because being HD the Movie is so much larger and takes a lot
longer to download, so you need to wait a lot longer before it will start
playing. After all, you don't want to be watching the movie, and then have
it just Stop right in the middle of it because your watching it faster then
the download is being sent to you. The file is just so much larger then a
SD version.
