Download speed on Live Marketplace

| Hi
Finally bought myself an XBOX 360, and having a blast. However I'm a little
disappointed with the speed of downloading off the market place. Yesterday
I was looking for a 2 player game to play with my wife, found Billiarsd
which was around 35MB, it took almost 10 minutes to download, by the time it
finished my wife got bored of the idea! (Not much of a game player)
I have a FIOS 15MB download internet connection, using some speed test sites
I get aronud 11+ on my PC. My XBOX is wired to my router, I'm not using
wireless. Om my PC a 35mb file takes seconds.
Any hints?

| The downloads ARE slow. I think because of the shear volume of the traffic,
that is the cause and nothing at your location. When you download a 100+ MB
game demo (some are up over 300 MB, if I'm recalling correctly), it will
take forever. 8-(

| doesnt make any difference, they are always just terribly slow. Many times
mine time out as well...

Adam - remember the net is global - its never "very early morning"
everywhere at the same time. Let me assure you downloads from Marketplace
are SLOW here in Australia as well (even when the US./Europe are sleeping)
But hey - some of those downloads are worth the wait - HD is great!

I would guess that in Australia you download from Australian servers, so
you'd be better off downloading at odd hours too. I'm in the US, and I
have noticed that it is much faster to download at odd hours, though
this advice isn't very helpful if you don't keep odd hours

If only it was true - Microsoft dont have any servers here in Australia - so
we download from the US servers

Do you realise how inane that comment sounds - its like "your call is
important to us - please keep waiting (forever???)"
I know you are a volunteer and appreciate the good work but telling us the
performance is being "tracked" doesnt tell us much

where there are a couple test packages to download, and links to a survey on
downloads. Might give that a go.

Chris - thanks - will check it out - and thanks for your support - I think
we are all getting fristrated with seeing the good content on Marketplace,
having fast internet connections available and getting such
sloooooowwww......downloads. Heres hoping for a solution soon.

| I agree, and you and I are in exactly the same position - needing to let the
Xbox folks know exactly what's happening so it can be fixed. By the same
token, I know Live! players who are downloading some of the demo games in
under 30 minutes where it takes me close to three hours. 8-)
