| I just got my xbox 360 system (not the core) and keep seeing the silver vs.
gold option. My question is if the silver is REALLY free since to connect
the box you have to enter your code purchased. I think we would be
interested in downloading or just playing some of the live arcade games but
I am not sure it is worth getting a gold level for just that right now. Any
help would be appreciated!

Jeremy,
I'm guessing you bought the $399 version with the hard drive so you
should automatically have the silver membership all the time for free.
Silver sucks. You can't do anything. Try the Gold out. Besides you get
1 month for free and you can download game demos, videos, extra
content, xbox live arcade games and you get to do the best thing of
all, play games against other people online! It's definately Worth it
to purchase the 1 year subscription. It comes out to about $5 per
month. Not bad for all the extra features you get.
Another thing, if you don't have comcast high speed internet, get it.
Online play is a lot better with it. Have fun.

| you can download live arcade games with silver. the only thing you can't do
with silver is download free items for gold members, and i think demos. but
movie trailers, videos, patches are all free via silver account.
