I want to be able to wear headphones with a boom mike for talking.
And have no sound come out of the TV. Blasting the neighbors at 3am
gets you return fire in my neighborhood.

Can I do this? I plan to buy a new TV and Xbox for Christmas.

well you can use a standard cell phone headset.
Then use headphones for the xbox output.
