I have a hardware firewall with my DSL connection. My son's XBox has never
worked with Live because of the firewall. Is there any fix for that or will
the new XBox 360 be able to work through the firewall? The Microsoft help
telephone lines have never been able to make it work other than dissabling
the firewall, and I can not allow that with my home software business.

You need to provide more information , such as the exact brand and model #
of the "firewall" equipment you are using.

It is from Sprint, a 645 series.

It isn't an issue with Microsoft or Live, it is with your firewall. I
assume your firewall is in your DSL modem. What brand and model is it? I
work for an ISP that has DSL. We use Zoom modems. I have the X5 for my own
personal dsl connection and it works great with LIVE. Most residential
modems offer a web based interface through which you should be able to
disable the firewall.

A little late, but... You need to forward private port 8602, both UDP
and TCP to the Xbox IP address. This enables several routers with
strict firewall settings.

I think port 8602 only applies if you're using the xbconnect software.
The default xbox live ports are UDP port 88 and UDP 3074 and TCP 3074

Opening ports are necessary in all cases. Here's the Xbox Live! connection
