My question is: When are they going to have Forza ready for 360? I'm
there is nothing like Forza on any console, it is simply amazing for a
console racing sim.

True that! GT4 promised online play and then dissapointed all PS2 gamers by
only offering a way take a pic. of your racing car . . . whoopti doo . . .
GT4 is fun as all get out . . . but challeging others through online play is
the way to earn rep. and show of your skills . . .

PGR 3 is going to be hella HOT ! ! !

either way, I personally can't wait for "NFS: Most Wanted" cuz' I like the
NSF titles . . .

In its time it's been awesome. This current one is not upto par,
except it really is damned fast and of course the car models are spot
on. They missed the chance to give it that added punch, which makes me
wonder if they either want to put more into the psp version (if there
is one) or the next gen

-Yes, absolutely, cause GT was the very driving game on any platform. No,
wait it wasn't...

And please, don't call GT a "simulator". Take a car, and hit a wall doing
200mph. In a simulator there should be damage, right? Is there on GT? Is
there on Forza? Hell yes!

And don't call Forza a simulator either. If you hit a wall doing 200mph the
car shatters, you die, your save is wiped and your disc self-destructs.
That's what should happen. The only game on console I've ever played that I
would describe as a half-accurate simulator simulates giant walking
robot-tanks and is set many years in the future, so I can't really tell you
how accurately it's simulated! Forza handles like an arcade racer, I've won
all the races up to now powersliding round corners as though it was PGR2.
I'm not complaining, I just get infuriated by people telling me that a few
badly drawn scratches and a loose front bumper when hitting a tree at 250 is
the difference between sim and not sim.

Ah, I did say advances have been made. GT was the first good sim. I
can't understand their reluctance to have damage models, except I
suppose with that many cars it would be hell. It's not only A driving
sim but THE driving sim.

Again i agree. Can't recall which game it was... er, Vrally 3 I think,
which really peed me off as the cars were wrecked at the slightest
knock and forever falling off high drops, not to return. But I was
being simplistic as obviously when it happens in real life this is the
LEAST that would happen.

Didn't change it from being a pain in the arse though :O)

Everyone should try Gran Prix Legends on a PC for realism. If you haven't
tried it or even seen it, do a little Google search. There are a lot of
videos around. Then buy a copy - if you can find one. It is difficult,
time consuming and beautiful.

? Do you actually play GT? if it was just driving down the shops it
would be a driving sim.. or are you confusing it with GTA?

And yes, in many people's eyes it may well have done so, but the

:O) Gimme a chance, I haven't slept much recently. I meant it's a
driving game, rather than a racing game. I also know GT calls itself a
driving simulator, but that's just a word, if they didn't race each
other there would be no point. I suppose originally the intention was
to make driving a pleasure, which I think it was in the first two.
Number three seemed to make it more of a chore and the current version
is damned near impossible at times.

Exactly. Just as you would in one of the real machines from that era. Hit
a rumble strip wrong, and you can damage the suspension which means you need
to limp back to the pit for repairs. Not like GT or Forza, but actually
manage to balance the vehicle at a slow speed. 8-) Keep in mind, I love
all three, but for realism, Gran Prix Legends I believe is much closer.

The problem with too much realism in games is that it either doesn't
work, or it's unplayable.

For example, I've driven around Brands Hatch in a formula first car
and achieved some acceptable times for a novice. Yet in video games I
can't get any where near decent times. The reason being (IMO) is that
in real life you are aware of your surroundings, can feel the car (so
you can judge how much to push it) etc. etc.

With a video game you are limited in what you can see and `feel`, so
the realism has to be reduced accordingly.

The other reason being you aren't comparing like with like. Are you saying
you can't get a decent time for a novice sim racer? Or more likely can't get
a decent time against expert sim racers?

If you were to leap into an F1 car you are unlikely to be on the pace
without some considerable time and quite possibly never due to skill,
fitness, bravery etc. Arguably you would have a greater opportunity with a
sim because you can have unlimited practice. After several thousand laps at
the Glen, destroying countless Ferraris and killing myself many times, I
broke into the 1:04s - My lack of immortality aside not many teams would
have retained faith in me

I suppose what I meant is that I can't get (what I consider) decent
times in a sim, regardless of the competition. In RL you are aware of
what's behind you, at the side of you etc. because of peripheral
vision. I often clip cars that are beside me because I haven't
realised they are there (you can't really see beside you in a video
game). In order to be aware of where the cars are in a sim you have to
keep looking in the rear view mirror, whereas in RL you'd be aware
without taking your eyes off the road IYSWIM. More often than not, if
I glance in the mirror in a sim, I clip the curb <lol>.

I also seem to brake earlier in a sim than I would in RL because you
can `feel` the right time to brake.

However, all this is probably down to my incompetence in video games
