I'm trying to get my son's Xbox Live connection working
with the MN-740. The Xbox light on the adapter won't
light up. I thought it might be a cable or ethernet port
issue. But we're able to download the firmware upgrade
via a direct ethernet connection from my Linksys router to
the adapter using the cable that came with it - and the
xbox light is on during that connection. We also can
connect the xbox console directly to the Linksys router -
again with the same cable and successfully access Xbox
Live. Does anyone have any idea on what might need
replacing?

I almost believe the MN-740 may be bad, but I would suggest while you've got
the Xbox turned off, unplug the MN-740's power pack, then unplug it from the
Xbox and let it sit for about 10 minutes not connected to anything. Then
plug it into the Xbox, followed by connecting the power supply again and
fire up the Xbox. If that doesn't work, you may have a bad MN-740 unit and
need to call the support number in your User's Guide.
