| running Netgear FVS318, not on US List but on Beta list from UK.
When testing with Xbox diags, found
IC= 1
MT= 0
NT= 3
Decided MTU packet size was problem. Bumped Packet size to 1500 and retested.
still MT= 0
Aslo tried setting up Xbox ad DMZ server, tried enabling UPnP
Even tried routing UDP port 88, UDP port 3074 and TCP port 3074 to Xbox.
No tamale......
Is it possible ISP is restricting my MTU packet size????

Scott
have you tried connecting the xbox directly to the modem(bypassing the
router)? that would tell you if the MTU issue is an isp problem?

| Per your suggestion, I connected directly to ISP. Immediate connect to
XBOX live.
So... router is the problem. Unfortuately this is the perfect router
for my needs, with the exception of the xbox prob. I will ck W Netgear
for any other config ideas, but sounds like new router if I want LIVE.

| OK, go to the Xbox Live site and check on MTU settings:
http://www.xbox.com/en-us/live/connect/diagnosing.htm
How do I check my MTU size?
There are two ways. You can check your router or gateway manufacturer's
documentation for your device's MTU setting. Or, you can let Xbox Live help
you. With the latest update of the Xbox Dashboard, you can now determine if
your MTU setting is too small for Xbox Live.
To see your MTU setting in the Xbox Dashboard
1.. Select Xbox Live to sign in to Xbox Live from the Xbox Dashboard.
2.. From the Connect Status screen, press the Y button on your controller.
3.. Press the A button to see diagnostic information. Find MT: x, where x
is your MTU test result of either 0 or 1. 0 means your MTU size is not 1365
or greater and it won't work with Xbox Live. 1 means your MTU size is 1365
or greater and you're good to go for Xbox Live!
What if my MTU size is not compatible with Xbox Live?
If the MT value is 0, you have a router or gateway that is incompatible with
Xbox Live because of its MTU setting. You'll need to change the MTU setting
on your device. See your device documentation to accomplish this.
Note for PPoE DSL you probably want MTU set to 1492. This is what I'm
using for Verizon DSL in Maryland (near Washington DC). Note: I also needed
to set MTU on my PC to 1492 (requires a registry hack in Windows XP) since
it was giving me problems with email sending and connecting to some web
sites that required authentication.
Of course, it is possible that your router just doesn't work with Xbox Live.
