Author downtime (duh...)

Hey all:

I've been on the road these past 12 days; come home to find NO network
connection on my XBox. I managed to google out that there's a downtime to
implement 360 changes (of course I couldn't read this on www.xbox.com cuz,
ya know, the rocket scientists over there decided to pull the plug on the
site at the same time, so no-one could glean info, but I digress...).

Since there's no official info currently available, can anyone tell me what
time the downtime ends (consider time zones, too). Thanks.

I think its supposed to last for about 30 hrs staring today the 24th. Don't
remember the exact start time but the notice said it will be up on the 25th.

I believe most subscribers last Thursday or Friday received a notice of the
down time, including "In preparation for the launch of Xbox Live on Xbox
360™, there will be a brief interruption of the Xbox Live service beginning
on Monday, October 24. Service will return on Tuesday, October 25. Don't
worry; leaderboard information for tournaments will not be affected.

"At the same time, Xbox.com will also undergo a complete overhaul and
redesign, and will relaunch with new features, new forums, and exciting new
content soon after the Xbox Live service outage.

"
a.. After this brief interruption of service, Xbox Live will be primed and
ready to go with all-new features enabled by Xbox 360, ready to wow you with
the launch of the system on November 22 in North America, December 2 in
Europe, and December 10 in Japan."

Sorry to be a noodge, but does Microsoft *know* what TIME (GMT, or Zulu)
they plan on renewing service? Seems awfully vague for a multi-billion
dollar corporation (that's decided to blithely keep one day of my
subscription money in return for ... nothing).

Probably vague because they don't know precisely how long the change-over
will take. I would imagine when the situation is completed, they'll
announce it. Of course, I can't read minds and my crystal ball is on
vacation until December 32. 8-)

Ahhh; through their currently off-line website, no doubt. :^ \

The Live and the web site should be back online at the same time (hopefully)
so I just keep checking the web site to see if its up. I'm online a lot
anyway.

I just hope that they don't forget about us regular xbox users cause it sure
does look like everything (print, web and live) is geared towards 360.

Latest word I've heard is Xbox Live! will be back online Tuesday at some
point, while the web forums will be down for perhaps as long as seven days.
(Don't shoot the messenger!) A bit disappointing, but they're apparently
working on preserving everything while transferring it into the new system.

its back up and running baby - interesting to see or hear if more people
have been booted for whatever reason (cheating, modding) than before. They
might have slipped in some more security measures......
