My son had been using the MN-740 for about a year when it suddenly crapped
out on him. After many hours on the phone with Microsoft, they finally
replaced the unit. Now he can no longer connect to LIVE via the wireless
adapter. If he hooks straight up to the router, he has no problem getting
through.
The router we have is the Netgear 614. We have 2 computers hooked up to the
wireless network, which work fine. We do have the WEP enabled with a 128 bit
setting. The Xbox was set up with the key.
When he tries to connect with the adapter, the router recognizes that the
adapter is there as an attached device. but the Xbox does not receive the
signal from the adapter.
What are some, if any, of the possible solutions? Could something be wrong
with the Xbox and not with the adapter?

Thanks for any help.

Do you have any kind of MAC filtering enabled? If so, the new MN-740's mac
address will need to be entered into the "approved" client list. I would try
to connect without WEP enabled first, then enable it afterwards so you can
rule it out as a the problem.

I did enable the device and it is in the approved list.
Just for kicks, I borrowed a friend's laptop and tried to connect to my
network using the adapter on the laptop.
Worked like a charm....no problems whatsoever. I guess the Xbox is the
problem.

Now is it cheaper to fix an issue like that or easier to buy a new
Xbox......

Are you perhaps using a System Play setting in the Xbox Dashboard instead of
Infrastructure?
