Not connecting to Live

| Hi all.
Not been on Live for a while (about a year) just decided to go on again and
I can't get my Xbox to connect,
My set up is as it has always been and nothing has changed since I last used
it, but I can't connect.
The error seems to point to a cable fault but the same cable works fine in
my PC, do Xbox suffer from faulty network sockets?.
I have changed the cable and reset the router, the other PC's on the network
all work ok
I have tried manual settings as I had to use these once before, and
automatic but I still can't connect,
Is Live down I wonder?
Any ideas, and yes it figures my XBox just has it's first Birthday

I was kicked, then unable to connect Saturday night. everything was back to
normal by Sunday though...

| Given all the complexities of "live" play and various network
configurations, it is a miricale it works at all. I applaud MS for making
"Live" work as well as it does.
Sure there are problems, but with the situation that exists I don't know how
you could have this service without problems of some kind.
No one could.
