Xbox live questions

| Hi, happy new year to all.
I have a few queries about xbox live.
I have quite an old xbox (I got it before live was released), so will xbox
live still work on it whether I use the 2 month free trial or pay for 12
months subscription upfront?
Also I only have 300k broadband so will this be fast enough to avoid bad
lag when playing games on live?
If I use the 2 month free trial, will it allow me to download or trial
enough good stuff to make it worthwhile. I do have Star Wars battlefront
and Halo 2, which I believe are live compatible anyway.
Overall, Is there anything else I should know or watch out for and is xbox
live worth spending the cash on. I feel that I haven't used the xbox for
its full potential yet and I loved battling friends online when playing
red alert 1-2 on my pc.
Hoping for a lot of help and advice and then hopefully I may see you on
live in the not too distant future!
Cheers :o)

| To quickly answer some of your questions. It doesn't matter how old your
xbox is, the dashboard will be upgraded when you connect to XBox live for
the first time. As for your speed, give it a shot with the trial. You may
not be able to host any games, but you can at least play some. I upgraded my
connection to the 5MB version of cable which gives me a 800 kps downstream.
As for whether you choose to use the trial or go for the full version, it
really doesn't matter. The two month trial will renew afterwards -- just
choose your GamerTag wisely as you can't change it. I don't believe there is
any content download available just yet for either Halo II (aside from
unlocking foundation map) and BattleFront. If you have older games, Mech
Warrior or Splinter Cell there is content available. Check out www.xbox.com
and click on live. There should be loads of information available to you
there.
